Integration with Your Software Installer

You can now offer your users the convenience of installing your community toolbar and your software in one package, thus avoiding the need for two separate installations. To add your community toolbar to your software installation package, please follow the guidelines below. Toolbar Publishers who fail to follow these guidelines will be considered in violation of the terms of the Publisher Agreement, and Conduit will take all necessary measures to enforce its legal policies. (http://www.conduit.com/legal/General.aspx).

Guidelines for adding your community toolbar to your software installation package:

  1. Legal guidelines
    • Proper disclosure and choice – You must inform your users that they are installing your community toolbar in addition to your software, and you must present them with a clear choice so they can voluntarily decide whether or not to do so. A “silent” or “background” installation of the toolbar is not allowed under any circumstances.
    • EULA – As part of the installation process, you must enable your users to review the community toolbar’s End User License Agreement (EULA) prior to installing the toolbar, via a link to the EULA or a scrollable text box that contains it. The most recent version of the EULA can be found here: http://conduit.ourtoolbar.com/eula
    • Endorsement – In addition to offering your community toolbar as part of your software installation package, you should offer your users the option of downloading and installing the toolbar as a stand-alone application from the download directory in your website. Offering the toolbar as a stand-alone application is required in order to demonstrate that it is not a third-party component.
    • Compliance – Before starting to distribute your community toolbar as part of your installation package, please contact Conduit’s compliance team (email: support@conduit.com) to make sure your toolbar is properly integrated.

Please note that according to the terms of the Publisher Agreement, you may not start distributing your community toolbar as part of a software installation package without Conduit’s prior approval.
